My little prose Rose in India
The roots of another endless collection of prose Rose can be found in India
in autumn 1999 where I stayed with the group Milan to present our project
“My Space” at the Czech embassy in Bombay. I went to India with the
intention to take photos. Being there I suddenly lost all my perceptions.
I was fascinated by old giant sculptures of local deities, inspired by ancient
culture of exotic country. Everything was new, different, suprising / I will
never forget the way from the Bombay airport to the embassy /. Here I took
first photos for my collection that I was creating after that for two years.
I finished the collection in my studio using classical photomontage. As Martin
Smekal mentioned in his review:’ In his last collection he confronts found,
useless things and mummified bodies of small animals to exotic Indian artefacts.
And in this way he discovers the connection between the ancient and the
temporary, the near and the far, the exotic and the everyday. He leaves us
wandering somewhere on the edge between the capturing beauty and the fascinating
ugliness of his fanciful still lives.”
One part of the presentation is a few metre tall giant enlargement installed in
suitable interiors, e.g. St. Wenceslas Church in Opava, in the theatre Husa na
provazku in Brno, in the castle in Moravska Trebova, in the clinic in
Ostrava…
During the opening, theatrical, musical and dance performances loosely tied to
the exhibition will take place
